Living Sacrifices to God
Romans 12:1-2 "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God."
Use of the word Lord in used throughout the Bible. A common meaning for the word Lord in the New Testament has to do belonging, ownership, and control. The owner or the master of the person. This concept seems demeaning and anti-rights oriented in our present society yet the scriptures make it clear that we are more than a solitary being.
I Corinthians 6:19-20 "Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body."
Becoming a believer and follower of Jesus Christ as the Son of God is an eternal gift by grace through faith. The response of this redeeming forgiveness is that we come to realize certain things about God and ourselves. The great sacrifice of our Savior allowed us the privilege of having renewed relationship with God the Father. To experience freedom and genuine love from God is such a transforming experience that it makes our response of submission just a reasonable, common sense response. "A no biggie", if you will. This new love for God begins to challenge and overcome the natural love for self. This passion grows and overflows as a daily offering to God for who He is and what He has done. This is what it means to be a follower of Christ.
Matthew 6:9-10 (in the KJV, as most have been taught) "After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven."
God's plan, His desire, and/or His will taking priority over ours. In a similar manner that it could be expressed in heaven but right now, right here on this very planet. This is what we are learning to do. This pursuit should be first and foremost. To draw close to the Creator God of the universe through His Son, Jesus, by the working of His mighty Spirit in order that we become imitators of Him in this present world's system.
Ephesians 5:1 "Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children"
If you have never considered this most spiritual act of worship, then we encourage you today to give yourself to God. Present yourself to him as an offering of love and appreciation. Give Him your heart, soul, mind, and body for His glory and His desires.
Give yourself first, not your stuff or your money
