Lay Aside Your Entanglements

Tom spoke this morning while Tim was out of town.  We were created in God's image but we have forfeited it.  Our whole life is a journey to get back to that original design but we are still trying to do it in our own strength.  We are supposed to be on a narrow path and journey and dying to ourselves. We are the visible body of Christ on this earth.

Tom is trying to understand that mystery. We have got to take up that cross and follow Him.
However, instead of dying to ourselves, we want to live and participate in the things of this world.  We are trying to get back to God, but we are doing it in our own way.  Do we look more like Jesus than somebody that is in the world?  Do they know that we are followers of Christ?

Look at the life of Jesus.  How do we compare?  Are we willing to lose our lives for His sake? Are we willing to be that kind of follower?  Why do we struggle so much?  The Bible says the enemy has an accomplice.

We entangle ourselves by what we pursue.  If we can lay it aside than we have power over it.  What entangles us?  Anything that takes our focus away from Jesus.   What does it feel like to be in the middle of a knot?  Think about the time it takes you to get tangled. That same time you could be using for Christ and His Kingdom.  Also, it doesn't get entangled easily.

We have to lay the things aside that are entangling us and seek Him first.  We are God's workmanship created for good works. How effective are we when we are entangled?
If we are entangled we are not much use. Can we shine our light and be entangled at the same time?

We need to lay aside the entanglements and sin. This is not the picture that Jesus wants us to give the world. We are His ambassadors and disciples.

Let's lay aside our entanglements!
